Book review: THIS IMMORTAL by Roger Zelazny

It tied with Frank Herbert's DUNE for the Hugo Awards' Best Novel in 1966, but I think I can see why DUNE is and will be better remembered. Zelazny's book is largely without plot. The narrator-protagonist is cool the way all Zelazny main characters are cool and the SF ideas being casually tossed off have a certain snap, but the lack of narrative momentum made this short book hard going at times. It's a shame. I wanted to like it better than I did.
